Short Fiction
Published short stories about people caught between the places that made them and the places they've landed.
The stories tend to start with a place — a rented kitchen in Graz, a triple-decker in Boston, a Tennessee highway at night — and follow the people who can't quite belong to it. Several have appeared in literary journals; more are always in the drawer, getting rewritten.
What they circle
Displacement, mostly — the ordinary kind. A character moves for school, for work, for someone else's dream, and the story watches what the new place asks them to give up. The endings are rarely tidy. The good ones weren't tidy in life either.
